Memories in rhyme
Memories in rhyme
When I was a little girl
I had an imaginary friend
No one else could see her
But I talked to her no end
I often made my mother jump
By shouting out “beware”
She’s standing right behind you
Or sitting in that chair!
I suppose being an only child
Made a difference you see
But I was never a lonely child
Because she was always with me.
I never gave my friend a name
Or even clothes to wear
Cos even when we played a game
Only I knew she was there.
She wasn’t around so much
When I started school
I didn’t tell anyone about her
In case they thought me a fool.
I still remember my imaginary friend
And the things we used to do
I had such a happy childhood
Did you?
