Showaddywaddy: 50 years on and still going strong
Formed in Leicester, UK in 1973 Showaddywaddy shot to fame courtesy of the ATV television programme New Faces.
Primarily a rock and roll band, famous for their colourful teddy boy outfits and iconic dance move Showaddywaddy specialised in revivals of hits from the 1950s and early 1960s, while also issuing original material.
The band spent 209 weeks on the UK Singles Chart, and had 10 Top Ten singles, with one reaching number one.
Showaddywaddy have always been a big touring band and continue to do around 100 dates a year in the UK and Europe to this day.
