Censorship

Why do childrens Nativity plays and pantomines have to be vetted for political correctness? Why are some of our loved Christmas songs censored in case they offend the narrow minded? Why must company Christmas parties be non-Christian and non-alcoholic? Why not go the whole hog and go vegan? Not sorry for pun.


Seems like some have been reading the world view of Oliver Cromwell, or other "leaders" that I am not allowed to name in case of offence.

Censorship happens everywhere including this site, I recently posted a possibly controversial topic named Ginge and whinge which mysteriously disappeared to an obscure location on here.
I only found it by using the post I started facility it was marked as non active no comments in over seven days although it had only been posted 20 hours previously.
Big brother is alive and well.

That’s interesting. I’m surprised that your comment has been moved because there are some awful comments on this site about our Queen Consort, Camilla, and how she shouldn’t be allowed to have her official role and title and yet it would appear that we cannot comment on the Montecito renegades. Goodness alone knows what he was thinking about when he made those comments about his service in Afghanistan - he has really lost the plot as well as raised huge security issues both for himself and his family.

Brilliant article, Billythequiche! Our PC "woke" world has gone mad. Practically every programme on TV has a warning of some kind or another - it used to be just flashing lights, now it's offensive language, nudity, racism etc etc etc! Perhaps folk have lost their remote controls and don't know how to turn the TV off. I wonder if we will get many red thumbs down for expressing our valid opinions!

Thanks, I was beginning to think that I was in a minority of one. I have to try very hard to moderate my comments as George Orwell's 1984 is almost a reality; except that it is "Little Brother". I fear for the very existence of freedom of speech. Just because you have an opinion that is different from the current fashion, you are branded some sort of "ist", whatever is the flavour of the time. Hard won womens rights are being eroded in the name of tiny number of ",,,", enter your own thoughts here as I may be sanctioned for speaking its name.
There are real fears here too. Be burgled or knifed and chances are no-one will be brought to justice or possibly even investigated; use a euphemism for a non-white or an undetermined gender and a police visit is almost assured. That is NOT the fault of our local bobbies. They struggle to protect the public in a non respectful atmosphere while having to follow the dictacts of virtue signalling senior managers, who rather than "thief takers" are merely career builders and subject to the whim of the loudest voices.
I am still proud to be British. I am still proud of our culture. I am still proud of the religion that moulded my morals and way of life. That doesn't make me a racist or a colonialist or a sexist or transphobic (whatever that means).

You are so right, Billythequiche! If I was mugged by a person who wasn’t white, would I be racist if I said what colour they were? Similarly, if I attacked a non white person would they be racist if they said that I was white - I very much doubt it! And don’t get me started on that idiotic, narcissistic couple who have gone to live in Montecito!!! When I first saw her, it never occurred to me that she was mixed-race, but evidently she is now black. Heaven help us all - history is being rewritten and men who identify as women use ladies toilets and changing rooms. Perhaps next time there’s a long queue for the Ladies loo I might identify as a male and use the Gents! 🙂

Why indeed! It is because we have allowed minorities to rule the majority. Immigration has always enriched this island but newcomers in the past and over the centuries has been at a sensible level and spread across a reasonable time so as to benefit society.. When the last war came to an end in 1945 there were around 47m of us. It now stands approaching 70m (that we know about). There are more than 1000 mosques and ever increasing…..it seems everyone wants to come and live here, and they will if the government doesn’t do something drastic immediately! We are fast becoming a third world country….books will be written by historians in the future and I could name the individuals most responsible but won’t bother…..what’s the point…..it’s done!

It seems these days it is wrong to have an opinion. For example, if I disagree with same-sex marriage, it does not mean I am homophobic. It means I just do not agree with that in my opinion.

I can have an opinion on many things, all of which are my opinions. The 'Woke' generation are just not
willing to accept that.

The world is now run by politically correct do gooders, shallow people with no real world experience full of their own self importance.

I was intrigued by the recent story about Lady Hussey being accused by Ngozi Fulani (birth name Marlene Headley) of racism.
Ngozi or Marlene is the CEO of a charity for abused women of African or Caribbean heritage so presumably not white women, is this not racism, can black people be racist?

Well said, Cris 1117. I have often wondered if black people can be accused of racism if they exclude white, brown, yellow people from their charitable efforts. At the end of the day we are all people who deserve to be treated with empathy and kindness. Unfortunately, this doesn't happen as often as it should.
