Six easy ways to lose weight after 50

For many people, losing weight or maintaining a healthy weight can become harder as the years go by.

However, with a few simple changes to your lifestyle, you can lose weight at any age.

1. Understand your metabolism

When it comes to losing weight, understanding your metabolism is important. Your BMR is the number of calories required to keep your body functioning at rest, it’s also known as your metabolism. As we age our BMR decreases, therefore, we will gain weight unless we eat less. So, knowing your BMR helps you understand how much you should be eating. 2. Find out the amount of calories you need

If you know your BMR, you’ll know how many calories you should be cutting from your daily intake to lose weight.  Put simply, to lose 1-2lbs of fat weight a week, you need to eat 500 – 1000 calories less a day, than your body needs to maintain its current weight.

3. Eat a balanced diet
