I Just Really Need A Chat
This poem was inspired today after a conversation with a wonderful elderly gentleman that I know. ❤️
I Just Really Need A Chat
I spent longer at the shops than I should have today
Did you my dear friend, well that is all OK
Did you buy something nice, an extra special treat?
No, I didn’t buy that much as I seldom like to eat
It wasn’t my money that I spent more of today
But minutes of my time, to help keep the blues away
I’m so lonely you see, sat at home, here, in my chair
With nobody to talk to, or to show me that they care
I ache to be included, just the chance to have a chat
Surely that’s allowed and there is nothing wrong with that
The staff in the supermarket, they are so very kind
They take the time to notice me, it really helps my mind
They help me with my shopping, nothing’s ever too much trouble
With my mobility scooter, it’s sometimes quite a struggle
They listen to my stories; I try to make them smile
They shower me in kindness, it helps me for a while
Well, that is my excitement over for today
With just me and my TV here, and no more words to say
Never mind, I had a chat, I really mustn’t wallow
I think I need more shopping; I will take a trip tomorrow.
