When the Dust has Settled
When the Dust has Settled
When the dust has settled
And night turns into day
And life returns to normal
In that never ‘normal’ way…
When mourning crowds have gone home
Their duty, they feel done
As they took part in British history
In the warm September sun…
When we become the poets
We never knew we could be
Our thoughts, in rhymes come flowing
It makes more sense, you see.
When those of us who loved her
And knew her un-matched worth
Feel an aching sorrow
She’s no longer on this Earth…
When all the Pomp and Pageantry
Of the Funeral has passed
And the Family of Royals
Can grieve properly at last…
When we finally accept the status quo
And know she’s taken wing
Only then can we say without sad tears
‘THE QUEEN IS DEAD. LONG LIVE THE KING!’
