Tough Times
Times may be tough guys with all the increasing prices for energy and fuel etc. But we can do our best to get through this.
Tough Times
With all our bills going through the roof
I may have to change my habits
Pound signs loom large in my eyes
Like bright headlights do to rabbits
I will dig out my warmest jumpers
Made from top grade thick mohair
And wear my Christmas onesie
And not care if people stare
I will make some draught excluders
To block the chilling breeze
To replace the central heating
And ensure that we don’t freeze!
Now hot drinks really are the best
You don’t even need to ask
The kettle boiled less frequently
To fill my big mug and my flask
This takes me back to childhood days
As I’d hear my parents’ shout
Turn off the light and shut that door
Your letting all the hot air out!
I must become a MasterChef
Planning each meal with precision
Batch cooking is the road ahead
Yes, that’s the best decision
I’m from a throwaway society
And I need to stop and think
It’s time to mend, repair and fix
Before we’re really on the brink
Sometimes we need to ditch the car
Go by bike, or take a walk
The benefits could be priceless
A healthy heart and time to talk
Sometimes life does throw us curveballs
And it’s hard to see the light
But adapt we must, so we don’t go bust
And hope there is an end in sight
