Wide Awake

This is about that time in the early hours when you just can’t sleep 😴

It’s 2am
Wide awake
In the dark of the night
Overloaded mind is racing
Disruptive waves it’s facing
A never-ending convolution
Of thoughts, with no solution
In the dead of night

It’s 3am
Wide awake
There’s no sleep tonight
Sleepiness is non-existent
Brain chaos is persistent
Tumbling in an endless loop
Eyelids wide, no longer droop
In the dead of night

It’s 4am
Wide awake
Sleep out of sight
A cacophony of thought
Spinning round, can’t abort
Drowsiness is elusive
Brain waves are obtrusive
In the dead of night

It’s 5am
Still wide awake
Frazzled brain is not alright
Demons of the mind keep rolling
As endless thoughts are scrolling
I see the dawn begin to creep
Why oh why can I not sleep?
