2022 Here I Come

Just a little light-hearted poem about the many New Year Resolutions we all make and break.  You have to see the funny side don’t you.  I am sure many can relate.

2022 Here I Come

With New Year fast approaching
There is something I must do
I must make some resolutions
So I shine the whole year through

I know, I’ll use a treadmill
To fit into my jeans
Because currently, I’m sad to say
They are bursting at the seams

My once a fortnight speed walk
I will ramp it up a few
Instead of feeling eighty-five
I will feel like forty-two

I will strive to get that new job
With no more holding back
If I do not stop this treadmill soon
I am sure to get the sack

I will cut down on my alcohol
Yes, that’s what I will do
Instead of having four large drinks
I will cut it down to two

I will write a top-notch poetry book
Become famous like Pam Ayres
Or take up dancing lessons
Become a pro, like Fred Astaire

I will take up a new hobby
And be the best there is
I’ll be calm and super organised
And will not get in a tizz

In my garden, I’ll excel this year
And plant such pretty seeds
I will water, prune, and tend to it
And give it all it needs

Ok, so let’s be sensible
And take my head out of the clouds
Anyone who knows me well
Is sure to laugh out loud

The only resolution that
I hope to keep this year
Is to live a healthy, happy life
In a world with much less fear
