A Moment’s Peace

Last year, the covid pandemic really got to me, as I imagine it did most of us.  And now with the fuel problems it seems there is always something to dampen our spirits.  I thoroughly recommend taking a walk out in the countryside and connecting with nature, it really does help.

I wrote this poem last September when I was feeling quite low due to the pandemic.  My day out made such a difference to how I felt 😍 Things will get better guys.

A Moment’s Peace

I found peace today
The first time in a while
Sitting in the countryside
It finally made me smile.

Listening to the ducks
As they’re swimming round the lake
The sweet music of the birds
And I finally feel awake.

A cuckoo in the distance
Strums a little ditty
The dapple coloured dragonfly
Really is so pretty.

Listening to the leaves
As the soft wind makes them rustle
Drinking in the atmosphere
Away from the daily bustle.

A tractor in the field
Proudly harrowing the land
Engulfed by hungry seagulls
A feast for them so grand.

A butterfly brushes past my arm
A fragility so gentle
A thousand miles removed
From our world which feels so mental.

The gentleness of the breeze
As it floats on past my face
So elegant and peaceful
I can feel its warm embrace.

All my pent up thoughts
Have finally gone away
As I can now enjoy the peace
Of this delightful autumn day.
