When I were a Lass
When I were a Lass
In the good old days we had notepad and pencil
Multi-copying was done by typing a stencil
Phone calls were few and far between
TV’s in the office were never seen
Wearing sensible suits was the thing to do
Cleavage and midriff were never on view
We used upper case, lower case, loads of mnemonics
Now all our gear is ergonomic
Spilt Snopake often spoiled all our clothes
Carbon smudges too – had plenty of those
Now its word-processing, amend as you go
No excuse for typing mistakes, Oh no no no
Words and sayings have changed their meaning
A scrubber was someone who did all the cleaning
Gay meant jolly, happy, carefree and bright
A reefer was a jacket, not something you light
Things are changing, we must move with the times
It’s so different since we were in our primes!
Now it’s all click this, right-click that
Using a mouse – so where’s that damn cat?
E-mails, websites, send me a text
I often wonder what’s coming next
Digital cameras for the family snapshot
Just where would we be without a laptop?
