Me and My Dogs

Dogs really are man’s best friend aren’t they.  Just so loyal and loving and good for the soul.

Me and My Dogs

I took my dogs for a walk today
In the early morning air
They walked along so happily
They didn’t have a care

My dogs, they’re getting on a bit
But, boy they like their walk
They stand and wait so patiently
If I like to stop and talk

They love to smell the flowers
But in a different way to me
They like to chase the squirrels
As they scamper up the tree

I’m pulled in both directions now
As one scurries off ahead
The oldest one feels tired more
And is yearning for her bed

Back home now and they feel content
I can get on with my chores
They sit and watch me thoughtfully
As they both now rest their paws
