Tracey’s Started Cooking

I wrote this for someone who had started cooking and just passed a driving test. Being technically aware she phoned A.A. as something was wrong with her car. The bulb had gone in indicator light.

Tracey’s Started Cooking

Tracey’s started cooking, she can juggle with her eggs
Due to the ‘lightness’ of her cakes, the oven has bow legs.

A friend asked for toad in hole, which made poor Tracey queasy
To obtain a little frog, she knew would not be easy

So she skulked round all the markets, likewise a local drain
But tho’ she searched for half a day, it really was in vain

Deciding on a compromise, to serve  up coq au van
And just to have a little taste, she called the A.A. Man

But did he compliment her, no the rotten little weasel
Said it tasted of Ford Transit, was definitely diesel

So she’s sticking to rice crispies and other milky slop
They have a snap and crackle….but they never have a pop!

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
