How to manage your NHS prescriptions the easy way
Our handy guide to getting your family’s prescriptions delivered for free.
If you’d love to make your life run more smoothly and get your family’s medication sorted, our free and flexible NHS prescription delivery service, Echo by LloydsPharmacy, is one step you’ll be very glad you took – and it couldn’t be easier to use.
Here’s how Echo works:
1. Create an account
Start by downloading our mobile Echo app or sign up to our website at echo.co.uk. As long as you’re registered to a GP surgery in England, you qualify to create an Echo account.
2. Order your medicine
Next tell us which repeat prescriptions you and your household members need. Just use our medicine search on the website or use the mobile app to scan the barcode on your medicine packet.
3. Your GP approves
Now you wait while we get in touch with your GP to confirm your order. They’ll send us an electronic prescription once they’ve checked it over.
4. Prescription payment
Once your order has been approved, Echo will let you know so you can then pay the standard NHS prescription charge, unless of course you are exempt.
5. Over to our pharmacists
Payment received, we’ll prepare and post your order from our central LloydsPharmacy. If you’re collecting from a LloydsPharmacy, your order will be prepared in-store.
6. Delivery of your medicine
Your medicine will be sent for free by Royal Mail tracked delivery, using letter-box friendly packaging where possible. Not at home? You let us know where to deliver it.
7. Repeat prescriptions
You’ll get a reminder from us to order your next prescription 10 days before you’re due to run out. Don’t take your medicine regularly? Just order when it suits you.
8. Helping your loved ones
Echo can manage up to six prescriptions per account, so you can also order medicine for family and friends. Have it delivered to their address, or collect in-store on their behalf.
9. Get advice from a human
Need to see a pharmacist in person? You can choose to collect your medicine at your local LloydsPharmacy instead. When it’s ready to collect, they’ll let you know.
