It Started with a Bang!

 It Started With A Bang!

The meal was planned and cooking, delicious wholesome food,
prepared with heaps flavour just perfect for my brood.
We were famished and all drooling for this sumptuous tasty feast,
our gastric juices flowing from the smells that were unleashed

Suddenly…..

With a deafening crash and judder, followed by a bang,
a sudden knock and clatter leading to the whang!
Then deathly quiet and silence, the oven was kaput,
no sign of resurrection, so trouble was afoot.

What happened to dinner?..

Dinner was abandoned and the kids had jam on toast,
no chance of gourmet dinner, that splendid Sunday roast.
The oven was now terminal, no longer fit to cook,
a replacement was imperative, to get us off the hook.

Onwards we went…

We ordered on the Internet, a substitute for now
a basic model would suffice to give us nice hot chow.
Time was of the essence with Christmas looming fast
the prospect of a sandwich replacing our repast.

The next day …

A replacement oven now installed all sparkling and brand new,
the prospect of some nice hot food was certainly overdue .
So in went the cottage pie for the family to devour,
the promise of a hearty meal within the next half hour.

Oh No!

The oven stopped completely, no sign of any life,
with Christmas inching nearer still, this added to our strife.
Cottage pie was off the menu it was sandwiches once more
our useless stove was then removed and resting on the floor.

Oh heck! It’s nearly Christmas

With much kerfuffle and melee, the oven was replaced,
arriving in the nick of time we fired it up with haste.
With fingers crossed and baited breathe; hot food was on the way,
Christmas lunch was back on course to make our perfect day.

Yum yum!

Happy Christmas!
