Covid Misery

A lockdown and nearly eight months of self-distancing
Some people think they know best and are not listening
Ignoring the advice given carrying on as if invincible
All because this killer virus is not actually visible

It is a killer of the elderly and those that are infirm
All restrictions put upon us now very much long term
Mixing with more than six people at a time now taboo
Somehow a reminder of the war years and the curfew

Face masks compulsory in shops and some indoor spaces
Forbidden closeness of hugs or family kisses and embraces
If it goes on much longer we will all become institutionalized
Christmas this year will be so different and can’t yet visualise

For most it will be a sad lonely time with no family contact
If this carries on for much longer a devastating social impact
All of you out there that are unbelieving of the virus and truth
Youngsters listen be told there is no such thing as the fountain of youth!
