Good morning all from Skipton!
Weather, another wet day here in Skipton!
August nearly gone by and it has not been a great month regarding sunshine. I have lived in Skipton moving here from Cambs around 7 years ago after my wife died and I don't think we have had one great year weather wise.
I love living in Skipton easy to get to the shops just want some sunshine.

I find it more fun than scrabble and limited well supervised chat allowed but beware, very addictive
Bradford/Leeds area don't seem to have any people in the community.
I live in Apperley Bridge, amoungst the many, many cones we live with on my nearby road. They seem to have been there for ever, but I think we're beginning to see the formation of the new crossroads at Greengates. Do not come through here if you have an alternative route.
I've lived here for 22yrs as have many on this estate. The planning people should think of retirement flats for this area because there are many of us in houses bigger than we need, but like the area.
The nice thing about living here is that not much changes and when it does it happens slowly. As I'm getting older its nice to have that constant in my life.
I was really angry and scared when covid came and was particularly furious with China for not containing the virus in Wuhan. I believe the virus leaked from the laboratory in Wuhan and instead of alerting the world they tried to hide it. I have lived 70 yrs and I have always been thankful that I had never experienced war or any really scary event in my time. Now I have had my 3 jabs I am more relaxed but I can't understand why the world seems to be forgiving China for the 6 million deaths this virus has brought. It's been like a slow atomic bomb moving around the world causing heartache and pain every where it goes. I still wear my mask when shopping and close to other people. It's really silly not to, It's the only proper method of freeing us from Covid. I find it hard to understand why people are so stupid not to wear masks. It's a public duty.. I've no time for those who say they have ashma and can't wear a mask. Rubbish or those who think their 'right's' are being taken from them. Go live on an island I say to them.
I went into shock when Putin invaded Ukraine. I never in my life time expected there to be a War in Europe. I kept watching every possible minute on the T.V. keeping up with the UN meetings etc.....
It took over a week to accept that this was possibly happening. Now he's cornered himself because the Ukrainian men are fighting back.
So you never know what's coming around the corner from one year to the next. So you might as well just think in terms of one year at a time.
Life in retirement is much more relaxed. Going from one day to the next. Apperley Bridge is hopefully coming to the end of the rebuilding of the roads at Greengates lights. It's been horrendous and it's shown up a lot of reckless drivers while the work has being going on. the night time garage on the Leeds road has reopened and it's much bigger than it was. A small supermarket there now.
