Contemplating a Shopping Trip

Contemplating a Shopping Trip

It really has been months
Since I’ve been inside a shop
Now lockdown is ending
Evasion has to stop

I have been online shopping
Snapping up good deals
The extra fat upon my frame
Proves I’m not skipping meals

Believe I should follow arrows
As round the aisles, I trot
Then have to  go around once more
To obtain what I’ve forgot

My glasses will steam over
If I have to don  a mask
Could do with windscreen wipers
To help complete my task

Outlines would be fuzzy
The rest would be a blur
If two items are same colour
Mistakes will sure occur

I hear the shelves are rather full
No lack of toilet tissue
But queuing up to visit till
Could be quite an issue

Behind transparent screen
There sits a lone cashier
Let’s hope through the flippin’ plastic
Her voice I still can hear

When finally checked out
I will be praying hard
As money is now frowned upon
I have a valid card

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
