The New Normal

Over the recent months have heard yourself saying “I’ll be glad when things get back to normal”? What will the new normal mean? Will the acquired sense of Community continue? Will we smile and talk to complete strangers or revert to personal isolation?

Please discuss.. Keep Safe😎

Hi RetiredJohnB. I've never been in personal isolation because I talk to everyone that I get the chance to. However I can understand that some people don't like complete strangers talking to them. Some people from Eastern Bloc countries are actually afraid to speak to strangers or even people they work with as they believe that such people are ready to take advantage of them. So sad because I think the Northern folks are generally friendly. I find that a genuine smile and a cheery 'Hello" can work wonders.

I don't think that things will get back to the normal we knew before corona . However i think it has brought out the best in some people raising the community spirit helping those in most need of help

In the past, Sheffielders have always had the reputation to easily talk to strangers, whereas in the South, this is very rare. We have spoken at bus stops and in supermarket queues without any problems, possibly sharing a little joke at the situation. When this unusual situation has finally gone, I do hope that the Northern reputation for this friendliness will continue, LUV!
