A little laughter helps…

A little laughter helps…

It’s not unusual here in the U.K.
For us Brits to stand together
But the questions usually is how’d we cope
With the great wet British weather.

Other countries sneer and scoff
And laugh at our umbrellas
But when needs must, we can’t half pull it off
For we are such jolly good fellas

Sweeping our country at a speedy pace,
the mutating Coronavirus
Companies and jobs going under each day
Our bosses may have to fire us.

Yet through all this
There’s been reported sounds
Of laughter & the occasional titter
On Instagram, Facebook, national TV
And especially tweets on twitter.

For the great British public can still laugh
During these dark troubling times,
We’ve dealt with so much more before
Like Wars, terrorism and knife crimes.

But if we can still find a smile
Of which I think were able
Take great care of those we love
And share what’s on the table.

So in these times of uncertainty
With the horrors on the news
remember the joy of laughter
That’s what I suggest you choose

If we have to self isolate our over 70’s
For 4 months, I hear is the rumour
We’re really going to have to invest every penny
keeping up the great British humour

For I have a theory, a hunch
Although I am no medic
Could laughter keep the virus at bay
Help us deal with this current epidemic.

So let’s just try to dig deep and laugh
Which ain’t too hard on the whole
Be generous with loved one’s birthday gifts
Like giving packs of 2 ply loo roll…

Let’s not get into supermarket brawls
And fight over tins of food
For when the going gets extra tough
There’s just no point in being rude

So let’s try to look on the bright side
For sure there has to be one
Just hang on in there best we can
Praying Corona will soon be gone!
