Cats Who Owned Me
Too much time on my hands…..thinking about past pussies.
Cats Who Owned Me
My first cat was named Lucky, he was my favourite pet
The fights he had were legendary, we talk about them yet
Tho’ with us was a softie, what he loved best of all
Was being nursed in loving arms, whilst wrapped up in a shawl
Then along came Ralphie, of water he was fond
Often came home dripping wet from being in the pond
He went in fishing for reed roots and thought it not a crime
To drag ’em home , chew ’em up, cover carpets with green slime
Then we adopted Maddie, covered head to tail in tar
Never knew how long she’d shivered, hiding underneath a car
The poor thing was so terrified and frightened by the night
So every evening we retired, made sure she had a light
The next in line, the daftest, our gentle bumbling Bobby
Always had to go and find him, getting lost his favourite hobby
Very, very cautious, unsteady on his feet
Must admit I adored him, he was so cute and sweet
But when the last one came along, he went by the name of Bert
Obey his orders very fast, or else you may get hurt
He was fat and he was grey, also proud and haughty
He was from the devils spawn, he was not just naughty
Fail to do as he thought you should
He’d select one claw to draw your blood
Yes he was last, but not the best
He was no pet, just a blank blank pest
………..still loved in spite of a nasty disposition
