New Year
New Year
New Year has come round again
And I’m still on my own
Bad health may keeps me indoors
So I stay in touch by phone
I have been somebody’s daughter
I have been somebody’s wife
I have also been a mother
But now I live my life
I am counting all my blessings
‘Stead of moaning at my lot
You never will be happy
Longing for what you haven’t got
My house is warm and watertight
Electricity supplies my light
A comfy bed to have a snooze
Or take siestas if I choose
I may dance in the nude at night
(Just shut the curtains extra tight)
No one there to judge or frown
If I stay all day in dressing gown
Politicians arguing on TV
This really doesn’t bother me
With my remote I give a click
can shut them up, so very quick
Yes sometimes I feel lonely
And sometimes I feel blue
But looking on the bright side
I control just what I do
So I’ll raise a glass to next year
To wish you peace of mind
Good luck, good health and happiness
But remember…..please be kind
