Morrisons – more than just a supermarket

Morrisons has been steadily growing in popularity over the past few years and we can see why.  Not only do they offer good value food and groceries, online delivery, clothing and household goods, Morrisons do some great work for the community too.

Since its humble beginnings in 1899, Morrisons has expanded across the UK to currently over almost 500 stores and an online home delivery service.  But their expansion does not mean they have lost any of their customer service and commitment to bringing their customers top quality food and groceries, in fact the opposite is true.  Morrisons’ uniqueness and high standards are shown in the way they source and process most of the fresh food that they sell through their own manufacturing facilities.  This enables them to have control over the provenance and quality of their food.  They also boast the most number of skilled staff preparing food in store than any other retailer.

Take Market Street where you can get expertly prepared produce and advice from the Butchery and Fishmongers.  In addition, there is the Delicatessen and instore Bakery and Cake Shop where everything is freshly produced.  And to reduce packaging Morrisons are doing their bit for the environment by encouraging you to bring your own containers for your purchases. This really ticks all our boxes!

Just like the good old days, you can select your own free range hen’s eggs – choosing the size, colour, shape and speckle-iness you like best. Putting them in the box yourself means it’s easier to make sure that your eggs aren’t cracked, or smaller than expected. It’s just one part of what they are doing to cut waste and cater for those who perhaps don’t need to buy 6 or 12 eggs at a time.

Looking for something different?

What if you’re shopping for a special occasion or just want to give yourself a treat then the ‘The Best’ range from Morrisons is the one to try.  Or perhaps you have a food intolerance?  There is the  ‘Free From’ range of gluten free, dairy free, lactose free and wheat free products and if you’re stuck for recipe ideas you can find plenty online at Morrisons.com

Whilst you’re shopping online how about trying out Morrison’s ‘Eat Fresh’ boxes?  Taking the stress out of shopping, these are recipe boxes of fresh pre-proportioned ingredients for 2 – 4 people along with a range of recipes and all delivered to your door.  What could be easier?

We are also really impressed by Morrison’s Nutmeg range of affordable clothing for women, babies and children and by their range of Home and Garden products too.  Who knew you could get Emma Bridgewater bowls, plates and mugs at Morrisons?  Amazing!  And our Silversurfers’ team have spotted an especially cute range of Dachshund products that would make ideal presents for dog lovers.  Take a look for yourself!

Great community spirit

Alongside this competitive, successful business side of their operation, Morrisons have not forgotten to give something back.  If you’re part of a community organisation, such as a craft club, charity group or book club, you may find it useful to know that Morrisons are introducing free meeting spaces for community groups in their Cafes. Offering seating for up to twenty people, their new service allows community groups to meet on a regular basis, without having to pay to hire a venue.

We also applaud them for installing a defibrillator in every store and manufacturing site and for introducing enclosed ‘board room’ style community use meeting rooms in a handful of stores too.  And if that wasn’t enough, Morrisons are about to launch a £2million apprenticeship fund to help train farmers of the future.

So if you’re lucky enough to have a Morrisons store near you then go along and visit or shop online.  They offer something for everyone!
