Advice for an over 60 job hunter?
Watch this postAt 60 years old, I still have a minimum of 6 years to work.
I am very unhappy in my current job and have applied for many other jobs with no success.
I believe that potential employers are not giving me a chance because of my age. I feel this is very short sighted of them as I can offer a great deal of experience and can be flexible as I no longer have to think of things like childcare.
Does anyone have any advice as to how or where I can find a job in administration where I will be judged on my capabilities and not my age?

One day I got a call from a firm I knew from the previous job asking if I could cover some work for them ?
The answer was of course yes and I was then out and about again and seeing people and making contracts and with an idea and a few breaks and a blank sheet I set up my own business
This is / was the point, if you have what they call "transferrable skills". See if you can freelance ?
I'd never work of anyone else now, much as you crave getting paid at the end of the week or month, it works for me, I have a pretty good income from it, I know most of my clients personally and it's an excellent opportunity
Godd luck with it

I see this is a really old post but have you since had any luck and found work, or are you still interested in something?

Has anyone had any experience getting employment through temp agencies?

The only thing I can suggest is that you try to identify companies who have an older work force (usually through word of mouth) and apply to them. Also some charities are much better at employing older staff than private companies. Keep trying as I I know a few people in their 60's who have found new jobs after looking for many months. Good Luck.
