I will do it … Tomorrow

I will do it … Tomorrow

I started a class in life writing, so felt compelled to produce.
Thought if I viewed some old photos, would memories help to induce

Well the photos were stored in the loft, I haven’t been up there for years
So scaling a rickety ladder, whilst fighting my aerial fears

Hauling self up wasn’t easy, had to sit down for a rest
You ruin your image quite badly, when you’ve cobwebs and dirt on your vest

The dust swirled around like a sandstorm, as I waited for debris to settle
My brain and my dry throat started shouting, you should have brought up tea and kettle

When sight had been readjust to seeing a bit in the gloom
As I shuffled around I can tell you, I didn’t have very much room

There seemed to be trillions of boxes, so I selected the one on the right
It contained old clothes, so I tried ‘em on, I tell you the beggars were tight

The next contained shoes, some were platformed, some spotted with little peep toes
I know you won’t blame me for strutting about, and making an elegant pose

The next contained paint and art paper, expensive, cost lots of my money
So important I painted a picture, to ascertain the oils were still runny

By now I was tired and hungry, desperately seeking a bath
I promise I’ll do homework tomorrow, so why do I hear you all laugh.

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
