Meghan celebrates first Mother’s Day with Archie on US date
An Instagram post showed an image of the royal baby’s feet.
The Duchess of Sussex has celebrated her first Mother’s Day with son Archie, on the American date for festivities.
An image was shared on the royal couple’s Instagram on Sunday of Los Angeles-raised Meghan clutching the baby’s feet over what appear to be forget-me-not flowers.
It was captioned: “Paying tribute to all mothers today, past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered.
“We honour and celebrate each and every one of you.”
While Mother’s Day is celebrated in the UK in March, it was held on Sunday in the States, as well as in Canada, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Kenya and Japan.
The social media post was accompanied by the poem Lands, by little-known writer Nayyirah Waheed.
“My mother was my first country; the first place I ever lived,” it reads.
Meghan, then acting in TV drama Suits, previously used the poet’s words to celebrate International Women’s day in 2017.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first son, who is seventh in line to the throne, was born weighing 7lb 3oz on Monday.
Meghan and Harry named the boy Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, opting not to give him a courtesy title.
