Can you envision a smoke-free generation?
Better education, new laws and a more health-conscious society have all contributed to helping bring smoking levels in England to the lowest levels ever recorded.
In 1948, 82% of men in Great Britain smoked. Today just 15.1% of adults in the UK are smokers, marking a huge generational shift.
The Tobacco Control Plan for England 2017 is aiming to push the percentage of adult smokers in the UK to below 12% by 2022, with an aim at creating the first smoke-free generation thereafter.
Charities like Action on Smoking and Health believe with tougher regulation and government funding this could be achieved by 2035.
