The Shed
Just in case the lovely ladies in the community wonder why their nearest and dearest spend so much time…down the shed.
The Shed
When a man needs time to think things through,
Or needs peace and quiet as some men do.
Does he hide in the loo or retire to his bed?
Or do the sensible thing and escape to his shed.
Tools and timber things awaiting repair,
He can sit like a king in his favourite chair.
Fishing rods and golf clubs lean by the door,
An old bit of carpet laid on the floor.
Cobwebs and spiders paint and wood stain,
Old screws in jam jars used again and again.
Stretching out his legs he leans back in his chair,
And ponders the problem that brought him there.
So his comfort zone for him is his shed,
A place of calm where noise doesn’t tread.
Familiar items on shelves round the walls,
Ready for use when necessity calls.
Now sheds can be large or sometimes quite small,
They can stand on their own or lean on a wall.
But a man needs a shed like a garden needs rain,
Which is why he will visit…again and again.
