Take Me Back

Take Me Back

If I could invent a time machine,
I know where it would rest,
Right back to the Seventies,
When music was at its best.

The Sweet we’re having a Ballroom Blitz,
While we were having fun,
The Thin Lizzy boys were Back In Town,
While Wings were a Band On The Run.

We had Melanie riding her Pushbike,
With Suzy to Devil Gate Drive,
Lionel Richie dropped by to say Hello,
And the Bee Gees were Staying Alive,

T.Rex were riding their White Swans,
Crazy Horses were everywhere!
Miss Piggy, sat with Kermit,
Halfway down the stairs.

Jasper Carrot rode his moped,
The Quo boys were going Down,
Elton sang, of his Yellow Brick Road,
While we cried, the Tears Of A Clown.

I really have to go now,
And leave you in the past,
But my love for the Seventies music,
Will well and truly last.

Hi there. I was born and still live in a little village called Abercynon in the Cynon Valley, South Wales. I’ve always enjoyed reading poetry, then after my Mam passed away in 2008 to cancer, I decided to have a go of writing my own poetry. My poems are mainly based on my own life experiences and memories of growing up in my lovely hometown x I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I love creating them❤️
