If you don’t have the conversation, how will they know what you want?
Two thirds of people have thought about the kind of funeral they may like, but only 4 in 10 of them have actually spoken to friends and relatives about it.
Talking about what you would prefer your funeral to be like might not be a conversation you want to have, but with some funerals steering away from the traditional, there’s a lot to talk about.
Knowing what your wishes are will make things easier for those arranging the funeral when the time comes. Why not talk to them about the flowers you love, the music you’d like playing on the day or anything else that’s special to you.
Don’t know how to start the conversation?
Here are some suggestions to help you get thinking and talking about what you’d like:
- Would you want a burial or cremation?
- Where would you like the funeral to take place – do you have a preferred church or crematorium?
- Where would you like your ashes scattered?
- Are there any particular flowers, readings or pieces of music you’d like?
A funeral plan is also a great way to record your funeral wishes and at the same time pay in advance for your funeral. That way, not only are your wishes written down and all of the decisions made, but everything is paid for at today’s prices. There’ll be no more to pay for the service included in your plan*, no matter how much prices rise in the future.
If you’re interested in taking out one of our plans, we’re offering all Silversurfers subscribers a £150 discount* using the code SURF150. Apply online, or call our customer support team on 0800 389 8377, Monday – Friday 8am-9pm, Saturday & Sunday 9am-5pm.
