Christmas Morning In Canada

Christmas Morning In Canada

“It’s Christmas” our children chorused as they jumped onto our bed
My eyes flew open when I realized what had just been said
Wearing their new pjs holding brimming stockings tight
Filled with treasures left by Santa on his visit in the night

“Open your stockings too” they cried “let’s see what’s inside”
Soon we were tossing Christmas wrap all over our bedside
Anticipation beckoned us towards the Christmas tree
To see what surprises were there for all the family

Packages lay waiting for us of every shape and size
In such abundance we could hardly believe our eyes
Watching our children open their presents was always so much fun
Christmas wishes from Santa had came true for everyone

The spirit of Christmas had enveloped us once more
With the gift of love not for sale in any store
