Do Unto Others
Do Unto Others
The young man huddled by the doorway into the store
Wafts of warmth eased the bitter cold he fought to ignore
He asked for spare change from the passers by
Indifference from most was their silent reply
Somebody’s son had sadly lost his way
Which led him to the street life and begging that day
What turn did he take when he went astray
Was he once viable earning some well deserved pay
So many scenarios imagined about his past
What caused him to become one of society’s outcast
Do unto others as you would to me Jesus said
We’ve often heard as scriptures were read
Therefore give what you can without reservation
Personally or collectively as a nation
You never know which beggar you meet
May be in disguise asking for spare change in the street
