If!
Bet you can find a tune for this one!
If
If you go down to the shops today, you’re sure of a bad surprise,
The prices are up, the qualities low, and things are reduced in size,
It’s everywhere, it’s all over town, the cost is up the sizes are down,
And that’s the way that the shopkeeper makes his profits.
If you look round in the shops today, you’ll see that it’s ‘two for one’,
But then you look at the cost you pay, and you wonder how it is done,
For every price you find they reduce, you bet yourself that you can deduce,
That they have managed to double it up on another.
Profit time for all the stores, the little pound signs rolling round and round,
See them hear them sniggering, at all that money here that is rolling in,
Their eyes shine with greediness, as the tills ring in their ears,
For every time they change a till roll you’ll find that this is food for their soul,
For that’s the way that the big shops make their profits!
