Warm your cockles with this spicy autumn cocktail
The hats, gloves and scarves are back, and autumn is blustering its way into winter. Luckily, we’ve got just the thing to warm you through as the nights draw in – and it means you can enjoy all the golden colours of the season, in a glass.
The Ginger Toddy
This wonderfully warming cocktail is easy to make – and a welcome treat after a chilly dog walk, a freezing-cold commute or a bracing stroll in the country. Fruity-sweet and a little spicy, it’s just the thing for a Christmas party drink too – so keep the recipe aside for your festive gatherings.
Ingredients – Serves 6
- 5 cm fresh root ginger, peeled and grated or finely chopped
- 6 cloves
- 6 cinnamon stick
- 100ml whisky
- 300ml ginger wine
- 500ml fresh orange juice
- 500ml ginger ale
- 1 orange or sweetclem, thinly sliced
