An Ode to Granddad
An Ode to Granddad
We played together on the lawn,
He taught me how to kick a ball,
We sat together to watch cricket,
He picked me up when I had a fall.
He’d always seemed to be there,
How he did it, I’ll never ever know
I never wondered why he did it
He helped me to grow and grow.
He now just fills my memory
So many of them within my head,
Strong hands helped me, in all I ever did
He even tucked me snugly into my bed.
Now it’s up to me to represent him
In all the things I to do in life,
Also share what I remember of him
With my children and my wife.
