Willowy Tails
Willowy Tails
Wispy willow wands waving gracefully
To the rhythmic melody of the breeze,
Lush leaves’ rustle soft symphonic chorus,
Scoured by winds, through weeping willow trees
Massed green leaves dance a flowing pattern,
Reflected truly by the slow water course below;
While those multitudes of mirrored movements
Blend with every ripple as wending waters flow.
Man stunted gnarled trunks, oft’ decapitated
By strong hand to harvest blades so keen,
Yield festoons of branches young and slender,
O’er crystal waters, in Spring’s sunlight gleam.
Loose fallen leaves float and drift a slow meander
Across that glazen surface, as waters gently flow;
Then each does sink to mat the bottom deep,
Thence to die, yet so, make flowered lilies grow.
Grouping willow roots mass to bind the course
Of gentle stream, quiet lake and mere’s sheen,
While white willow blades are hewn to a striking form,
Bringing joy to man on the verdant village green.
