Will the Great British Bake Off survive on Channel 4?
The new series of the Great British Bake Off premiered on Channel 4 to mixed reviews this week, moving from its traditional Wednesday slot to Tuesday evening.
The hugely popular series has been aired for the past six series on the BBC, with hosts Mel & Sue and Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry overseeing the contest as judges.
Last year it was announced GBBO would be moving to a new home at Channel 4, sparking much controversy and a shake-up of the show’s original format. Replacing Mary Berry is Prue Leith, with Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig stepping in to replace Mel & Sue.
While the first episode won over the critics, viewers are less convinced, with many finding the ad breaks particularly irksome.
