Out of the Blue
For anyone who is just…….waiting.
Out of the Blue
My mind says yes…but my body says no,
My friends say..never mind, just go with the flow.
But when I think back on my life to date,
I’ve never been one..to just sit and wait.
I look in the mirror..what do I see?
An older version..of the man that was me.
Things were just fine..I was ticking along,
A little bit slower..but still feeling strong.
But then one day..right out of the blue,
An awkward turn..a pain shoots through.
And a leg that has carried me mile after mile,
Says..enough is enough..I must rest for a while.
Run with us grand-dad..the grand-children plead,
Climb a tree with us grand-dad..you follow..we’ll lead.
Can we go fishing..can we go to the beach,
Lift me up grand-dad..to things I can’t reach.
Oh little ones..I wish that I could,
Do all the things that a grand-dad should.
But for once in my life..I must listen to others,
And bide my time..till my body recovers.
So week after week..as my life ticks by,
I await test results..for my knee and my thigh.
And when my mind turns..the self-pity key,
I remember there’s many..who are worse off than me!
