Out Beyond The Pines
Out Beyond The Pines
We came upon her quite suddenly as she stood out beyond the pines
enjoying some lush grasses foliage and vines
The sight and sound of our approach didn’t cause her to retreat
she continued foraging at the roadside for some tasty fayre to eat
Raising her head she looked at us as if questioning our intrusion
she remained we were not a threat it seemed was her conclusion
I said a soft hello as her eyes met mine
her features were perfect so delicate and fine
The white tailed doe most likely had a fawn nearby amongst the trees
protected by its spotted coat naturally camouflaged with ease
She’d return to nurse her young several times each day
then together move on to a new area to bed down and stay
We slowly drove away filled with sheer delight
to glimpse wildlife out beyond the pines who are often hidden in plain sight
