An Angel by my side

An Angel by my side

I believe we have an Angel
Always by our side
To lift us through the hard times
When life sends you, that bumpy ride.

They can’t stop what is written
But they give you strength along the way
I know because this happened
When my mum she passed away.

The destination had been Alzheimer’s
A journey that wasn’t planned
Not mapped in our life’s journey
But these are the cards we had in hand.

Many roads that led to sadness
Broken hearts, in floods of tears
But together we made that journey
That so many of us fear.

But our love could not be taken
You can’t destroy what’s everlasting
The peace my mum was given
The day I saw her passing.

It was then I met my Angel
She lifted me on her hand
Strength I’d never felt before
Enabled me to stand.

To offer comfort, to all around me
I’d been given strength, to pass it on
Now we had reached the destination.
My Angel, now moved on.

She gently laid her hand down
I walked and stood my ground
That’s the day I found my Angel
I know she will always be around.
