Waiting
Mick Westwood has shared a beautiful poem about anticipating the arrival of Spring. What do you like most about springtime?
Waiting ( February )
Waiting, waiting, anticipating, waiting for the Spring,
Looking all around me for the glories it will bring,
Searching for the snowdrop, as a ‘starter’ for our eyes
Then the bluebell and the daffodil, to dance away our sighs.
Look towards the hawthorn, to find a change of hue,
It’s bud will swell and soften, before the beauty can show through,
And from that bud, a leaf will grow, to alter nature’s scene,
And transform a morbid hedgerow to a wondrous shade of green.
Look around you carefully, it happens as we speak,
Always working and evolving, nature never sleeps,
Harken for a lighter sky and a warm and welcome sun,
To lift our heart and spirit high and to open our horizon.
So keep your patience, hold your stay, that time will soon arrive,
The day will dawn on ‘springtime’ and we again become alive,
Alive again, to thrive again, with no malingering,
Instead of waiting, waiting, anticipating, waiting for the Spring.
