A Couple
A Couple
They’re joined by the road that they have both trod
Since marriage had bound them in the eyes of their god
From then until now their future is cast
He was her present, her lifetime, her past
A life so entwined like a long rivers flow
Their wild frantic passion calmed years ago
The cracks well cemented, promises made
All fairly done, their future was laid
They blended then shared a gentler love
Moulded and shaped like a soft leather glove
The troubles they had all solved with good grace
Leaving sketches in lines on their aging face
Because they knew of each others trait
They hold on together with a sure certain fate
Being a couple takes more than just being two
It’s grown and it’s nurtured with it’s own special glue
