Carefree
CarefreeĀ
Fish and chips, batter bits, parks with ‘proper rides’,
Frying pan, and see-saw, all to play outside,
Witches hat, roundabout, climbing frame and swings,
Sand-pit, long-slide and other childhood things.
Conkers, marbles, hide and seek, footy in the park,
Playing there from light till night, playing till the dark,
Kids games, chanting names, singing as we play,
Ring a ring ‘o roses, dancing round all day.
Fun time, in sunshine, or playing in the damp,
Making dens, in the fern, make yourself a camp,
Open air, out there, when we would sit and laze,
Treasured memories, of happy carefree days.
