Riverside Reflections
Riverside Reflections
I don’t golf but decided to ride along with my husband in the cart
Enjoy the beautiful scenery which was evident from the start
We joined another twosome and exchanged some pleasantries
At the signal we drove towards the 1st of 18 Tees
A majestic bald eagle soared high above the trees
The tall grasses around the river swayed with the morning breeze
The game progressed much to the players sheer delight
While I caught a glimpse of a deer before it wandered out of sight
Sometimes we traversed the course to retrieve a wayward ball
Checked the rough or riverside wherever it appeared to fall
A startled doe dashed across the green followed by her frightened fawn
While golfers stopped momentarily then afterwards played on
My partners game continued some holes were made on par
Others were double bogeys the ball veered off too far
The morning met the afternoon as we approached the more challenging back nine
While I sat leisurely admiring the exceptional contoured course design
We crossed bridges over the river as it meandered on it’s way
Conquering the last few holes that were left to play
On reflection I enjoyed the golf experience without playing the actual game
In fact on our next vacation I may consider doing it again
