Glory Days
Glory Days
We waited at the bus stop underneath a bright umbrella
Catching up as best friends do likely talking about some fella
Wearing maxi coats, mini skirts and knee length platform boots
Looking absolutely fabulous guaranteed to get some looks
We were heading downtown as we did every Saturday
To buy clothes perhaps some shoes with our well earned pay
Our coach arrived we climbed onboard and promptly paid our fares
Glanced at all the passengers before we climbed upstairs
We took two seats up front a perfect birds eye view
Laughing at everything as often young girls do
Planning the nights activities with whom where and when
Definitely including some handsome eligible young men
Enjoying every moment in each other’s company
Sharing our glory days happy and carefree
It’s been over forty years since we took that bus
Marriage, children and their commitments left little time for us
The only way to visit now is down memory lane
With fond remembrance until we meet again
