My Friend
Life is like a box of chocolates…some you recognise and know you like..some you recognise and know you don’t like…some you don’t recognise at all. So..they all look great but the ‘contents’ description is missing, therefore you have to rely on how you feel inside about your choice..Your friend doesn’t normally let you down.
My Friend
Inside every person..whether young, middle aged, or old,
There dwells an alter ego..a friend..who’s made of gold.
We all know the feeling, when there are choices to be made,
Some choices wobble to and fro, as though finely balanced on a blade.
We weigh the pro’s and con’s and think..should I do that!..or this!
We need to know the choice is right and not just hit or miss.
Cart before the horse?…or horse before the cart?
Should we listen to our head…or should we listen to our heart?
Our life is full of choices, we’ve made them every single day,
When we were young..shall we stay in today?..or go outside and play?
Then later on, life changing choices..have been made as they occur,
Shall I live here?..Shall I live there?..Shall I marry him, or her?
No one likes to get it wrong, we just want to get things right,
And our friend..our alter ego, has been helping with the fight.
It lives within our beating heart, it’s been there… from the start,
So always now..when I have to choose..I listen to my heart.
