Loneliness
This is a reflective poem relating to ageing and loneliness …
Loneliness
Old man, old man, all alone,
Sit you yet in your humble home?
Dreaming of childhood, adolescence,
Your life past, your life present.
Friendships made, friendships lost,
You were never one to count the cost.
There’s no loving wife to take your part,
No children near to warm your heart.
You dream of days when you were one,
Those golden years a long time gone.
Old man, old man, did I hear you say,
You’d trade all your tomorrows for a single yesterday?
