I took up boxing in my mid 50's and have to say it is the best form of exercise i have ever done, originally striated off with a personal trainer who had been a semi professional boxer , but after 18 months he went off to do teacher training. Rather than give up I bought a heavy duty punch bag and some exercise matting. My routine is 3 x a week ,for 45minutes to an hour starting with skipping, then a punch bag routine that is 10 rounds each least 3 minutes with a 30 second rest. I follow this with some weights and then cooling down exercises. I also fall a youtube and twitter page of a site called Sneakpunch which i would highly recommend Cornelius Carr is excellent at providing and giving advice/guidance. The great think about boxing is that it is suitable for all and you can do it aye your own pace....give it a go you will be really amazed at how much you will enjoy it.

So is knocking somebody's teeth out in a Scrum, then pretending it was an accident !

The exercise regime has actually nothing to do with physical contact with another person.
Instead of adopting a negative attitude perhaps you should give it a go a punch bag is rather dense and does not hit back no humans apart from the person doing the regime is involved.
It is very good exercise you don't actually have to follow boxing

Celtwitch I think some form of exercise may help you as your comments are very aggressive and negative......I think you will find there are more important and pressing problems in the world than getting angry about boxing.

A 'sport' where each opponent is trying to inflict head injury on the other! That ain't sport bruv, that's just violence.

A misconception that boxing is about violence .
I am not violent towards others and the training I do does not involve hitting anyone .
Before throwing insults perhaps you should actually educate yourself about the actual exercise regimes......you might surprise yourself !
