Where Do We Go From Here?

Where do we go from here was etched upon my brain
As I woke up to a world that would never be the same again
Lives stolen from their families relatives and friends
No matter what retaliation it would never make amends

Evil swoops in like a dragon devouring us in flames
Destroying innocents while it kills and maims
The world is in a turmoil collectively she weeps
As nations defy each other making promises no one keeps

Jealousy and hatred take up the reins of war
Apathy and resentment writing down each score
People disagree on what we should abhor
Comparing every atrocity to those carried out before

Countless lives are lost countries bereft remain
In a never ending circle we question whose to blame
The only thing we can control are the thoughts playing in our mind
Whether they’re destructive compassionate and kind

So let’s begin the peace process as we go about our day
Show patience love and tolerance to all who come our way
These actions like an echo will come back to us it’s true
Reminding us a peaceful world begins with me and you
