Old Friends

This short poem is written by Jean Leyshon, who has also written some lovely short stories for us too …

I love my knitting needles
they’re always on the go,
they weave such lovely garments
as they go to and fro.

Sometimes they knit for babies,
something in pink or blue.
A little coat or jacket,
Maybe a hat or two.

Sometimes they knit a blanket,
made up of coloured squares.
As well as dolls and little dogs,
Clowns and teddy bears.

At christmas, they knit stockings,
In colours warm and bright,
To hang around the mantelpiece.
Its such a lovely sight.

Sometimes my needles take a rest,
while I do other things.
But they soon make their presence known.
My lovely knitting pins.
